Whitney Wolfe Herd was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended Southern Methodist University, majoring in International Studies. Herd was a member of the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. While studying at SMU, Herd started her own business through selling bamboo tote bags to help people who were impacted by the BP oil spill. Herd also helped found the non profit organization; The Help Us Project. After getting her degree from SMU, Herd helped different orphanages in Southeast Asia.

Bumble BFF helps users develop platonic relationships. Bumble BFF tries to match users with people of the same sex who are looking for friends as well. BFF mode uses a similar swipe platform to the dating mode, however any conversations must start within a day of the potential friend match.
Bumble Bizz helps users find professional networking and mentoring opportunities. Bumble Bizz hopes to make networking a more comfortable experience for its users. Through Bizz, users can add photos, explain their skills with examples of their work, and they can also upload digital resumes. Herd has said that people have been hired to the company through Bumble Bizz. Bizz is available in North America and Europe.
Herd recently announced that Bumble will be partnering with star music duo The Chainsmokers to create Bumble beats. This is Bumble’s 2nd music based partnership, as the company previously partnered with popularity streaming company Spotify. Through Spotify, users were able to display their favorite albums and artists on their profile. Forbes says that Bumble is now valued at over $1 billion. This October, Wolfe married businessman Michael Herd in Positano, Italy.
